A Poem to Ponder

M. Louise Haskins:

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
“Give me a light, that I may tread safely into the unknown!”
And he replied:
“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than [a] light and safer than a known way.”

I just thought it was a good reminder.

  1. This poem is actually a very good example of something I just encountered in our family. My great grandmother has not been doing very well over the last few months. Last weekend she fell and broke her hip, they did surgery but she had been getting worse each passing day. She was so scared crying out in her sleep don't make me go, don't take me, you can't make me go, because she was scared but then the pastor came and prayed with her the last couple days and my cousin told her not to be affraid for God is there and Grandpa is there and they have prepared a new home for you. You will be made new again and will not be in pain anymore and told her it is safe to go, that we all love her and will miss her but it is ok for her to go and be with God and Grandpa. Last night she passed quietly in her sleep and was not affraid. God is the way and in him there is always light! May you rest in peace my dear sweet Grandma Ernie, we love you and miss you.
