Does God want mankind to be equal?

Please read the following verse from your Bibles:

John 10:10 King James Version

10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

My questions to you is...

Does God want all mankind to be equal? Is this verse an open admittance that Christians will have life in more fulfilling ways then non-believers do?

My thoughts:

No I do not believe God intends to treat all mankind equal. For Christians I believe this verse tells us that we will have life more abundantly regardless of whatever circumstances the rest of the world faces. Sure there can still be hardship but that does not mean we are not favored. Enough about what I think what do you think?

  1. i agree that mankind is not meant to be equal. though i do believe God loves each of us the same, no matter what we have done in our lives...that being said, i do believe that He "hates" our sinful ways.

similarly, as christians, we are not meant to be "of this world." the Bible states this several times...Psalm 17:14, Isaiah 38:11, Zephanaiah 1:18, Matthew 16:26 and 18:7 (and the list can grow longer). i believe that we are meant to be visibly different to all of those around us. people should see us and know that we are followers of Christ.

again, with that being said, i will use Jesus as a role model. we should not surround ourselves with like-minded people. christians should not be our only friends. Jesus had 12 friends who followed him; 12 people He regularly confided in. however, the people He most often found company in and sought after were prostitutes and tax collectors (Matthew 21:32), gentiles (Matthew 10:18 and Acts 9:15), among others. Jesus did not surround himself with high priests and scholars.

as christians, i believe that all too often, we avoid the same people that Jesus was reaching out to. why? we (and i'm using this term on the whole as christians) often look down on non-believers, homeless, drug users, criminals because they are not saved like us. we surround ourselves with like-minded people and "boast" about our salvation. but i do not believe that this is what God had in mind when He came to this earth. after all, how are we supposed to save saved people??!!!

i do not profess to be any better than anybody else. i too surround myself with like-minded people, discuss God mostly with believers, and look down upon those not like me. it is a struggle that i have to deal with (Matthew 7:3-5).

sorry, i may have taken a tangent with your question.

  2. All very good points! However I still think the overall topic may have gotten deluded a bit.

I'm not so much talking about sinners vs Christians. Everyone except Jesus IS a sinner. You speak the Truth, God loves us all. We shouldn't just associate with other Christians and "boast" about things like salvation or prosperity for that matter. This would be pride and God is completely against this as well.

    Psalm 10:4
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

I believe God created man in equality but faith is what separates man in God's eyes from other men. Reiterating my second question from the original topic:

Is the verse "John 10:10 King James Version" an open admittance that Christians will have life in more fulfilling ways than non-believers do?
